About the Item

Gary Magakis’ handmade, unique blackened steel Ledges three side table epitomizes the sculptor’s distinct approach to creating bold and dense geometric forms that simultaneously exude an elegant, buoyant aesthetic of Modernism. At once a functional object and free standing sculpture, the table is to be experienced differently from every angle. Inspired by Constructivism and the cantilevered rooms by Frank Lloyd Wright, Gary Magakis channels architectural elements in design while tapering each of his forms uniquely. Though each of the table’s geometric sections appear sharp at first glance, they are actually gracefully curvilinear, as the entire piece lacks any straight lines or edges. Magakis’ series of unique, sculptural furniture are featured in the Financial Times’ How to Spend It, April 2015. A bespoke version with custom dimensionality and finishes may be commissioned. Measures: 16″ W x 14″ D x 21″ H.

Burned Ode side table by Sizar Alexis Signed and Numered Edition of 12 Dimensions: Length 44 x width 35 x height 40 cm Materials: Burned pine wood The hexagon has more to it than we think, and some of the aspects of this shape are still mysterious. The series is an ode to the aesthetics that I fell in love with in a geometrical sculptural works of art and the interesting perfect form of the historical hexagon. It's fascinating how hexagons are part of our life but fail to realize this. It all comes down to the element that is present throughout our body, and that is carbon. The use of the form dates back to ancient Mesopotamia...
