An Italian 19th century Giltwood and Pietra Dura marble side table
About the Item
A stunning Italian 19th century Florentine st. Giltwood and Pietra Dura marble side table. The tilt top table is raised by a four scrolled legs with bottom scrolls and attractive elongated top acanthus leaves. The central column supporting the top has a beaded and palmette shaped band. The frieze above is decorated by pierced reserves with a central shell amidst scrolls. The adjustable top has a central inlaid Pietra Dura plaque with Malachite, Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise, and Onyx. The plaque depicts a large branch with flowers and two perched parrots framed within Black Belgium marble and an outer band. The giltwood border has an elegant carved fluted design. All original satin and burnished finish throughout.
This table can be displayed as a piece of art by tilting the top upright as an easel by its original mechanical metal hardware.
