Japanese Antique Paper-covered Box 1900s-1920s / Kakishibu
About the Item
This is a very old storage box covered in washi paper.
It was made in the Meiji period (1900s-1920s).
The old washi paper is painted with persimmon tannins.
Painting with persimmon tannins has insect repellent, preservative, and waterproofing effects. The unique brown color is very beautiful, and it is also nice to look at it as an object.
Simple and beautiful without any unnecessary decoration.
Ultimate simplicity.
The paper is too old to read, but it is beautiful like an abstract painting.
It can be used for multiple purposes as an object or display stand.
The contents of the box have been disinfected.
It is in good condition for furniture of this era.
A rare Japanese piece of furniture with a wabi-sabi aesthetic.
Weight: 2kg.
