About the Item

This is a wooden storage box made in Japan. It was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and has a long-standing taste and quiet presence. The material is cedar wood. This wood has been used in many traditional Japanese architectural structures and furniture, and it shows a beautiful expression as it ages. The design is extremely simple. The linear form, which eliminates any waste, brings a quiet beauty to the space while gently accompanying the user's life. Although it is a storage box, it shows the power of product design that transcends time. Of special note is the texture of the lid. Its surface, which tells that it has been used for tens or hundreds of years, is moist and warm to the touch, allowing you to feel the “passage of time” both visually and tactilely. Even the slightest scuffs and scratches are charming, and the box itself is like a piece of art. The box has already been carefully cleaned and is ready to use. We recommend using it not only for storage, but also as a display stand or a low table. The spirit of “wabi-sabi” is alive and well in this piece. It is not flashy, but the serenity and depth that lies behind it will add a quiet color to your daily life. Weight: 6kg ___________________________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
