Philipp Mainzer Backenzahn Black Oak Side Table for E15

About the Item

Philipp Mainzer Backenzahn Black Oak Side Table for e15. Germany, current production. e15 celebrates 25 years of BACKENZAHN™ by Philipp Mainzer with a new edition in tannin black finish. Introduced as part of the e15 SELECTED collection, the matte-black finish highlights the alchemic process that produces a natural tannic acid reaction in the oak wood, when triggered with a special mixture of natural ingredients. The original BACKENZAHN™ designed in 1996 by e15 founder and architect Philipp Mainzer is a modern design classic as well as an identifiable icon for e15. Crafted in Germany, the stool (with shaped seat) or the side table (with flat top) is offered in oiled European oak or walnut. For its signature form and detail the centre of the tree is used. During the seasoning of the solid wood, the legs form their characteristic cracks, which make every stool unique. Born in Germany, Philipp Mainzer studied product design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, and architecture at the Architectural Association both in London. In 1995, Philipp Mainzer co-founded the modern furniture brand e15. Having established the progressive, enduring philosophy and unique branding of e15, he has received international awards for many of his designs, which are identifying icons for e15 and part of several permanent exhibitions in museums. Parallel to the creation of e15, Philipp Mainzer practiced architecture in New York and continues to do so since his return to Germany in 2001. He is a member of the executive committee of German Design Council and regularly gives lectures on architecture, design and branding. Philipp Mainzer is creative and managing director of e15 and his architecture office PHILIPP MAINZER OFFICE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN. Prices are including 21% VAT. • Mark Holmes 'Seam One' Table Lamp in 24k Gold Finish for E15 Selected
    By Mark Holmes
    Located in Tilburg, NL
Mark Holmes 'SEAM ONE' table lamp in 24K gold finish for E15 Selected. Designed in 2003, New Production. To visually signify the company’s 10th anniversary, in 2006 e15 exchanged the e15 signal orange with gold. It symbolised the censure after this first decade of e15 and at the same time the transition into the next few years of our work. As a special product for the anniversary e15 presented the light SEAM ONE as a limited edition piece, which in its gold finish bridges the gap to our collection. The object by British designer Mark Holmes has been awarded several times (for example, IF-Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, Wallpaper* Editors Award) and has been part of the e15 collection since 2003. The light SEAM ONE is an elegant and contemporary interpretation of the classic table light whose sculptural body is a direct result of its clear lines and accurate folding. At the heart of the design is the aim to keep the number of components to a minimum, the construction as simple as possible, the proportions as balanced as possible and the light as strong as possible – requirements, product specific, which as such are at the heart of all e15 furniture pieces. The golden anniversary...
