Japanese Antique Low Table 1860s-1920s / Sofa Table Side Table Wabi Sabi
About the Item
This is an old low table made in Japan.
It features a simple structure with a cedar stump as a base and an old wood top on top of it. The tabletop and base are not fixed and are in a natural balance.
Zelkova wood is used for the top and a cedar stump for the base. Both materials are from the Meiji and Taisho periods (1860s-1920s), and the long-aged wood surface creates a deep flavor. The powerful grain unique to zelkova and the natural form created by the cedar rootstock combine beautifully to create a one-of-a-kind presence.
It is extremely versatile, and can be used in a wide range of applications as a sofa table, display stand, or object stand. The serenity and strength of the natural material gives a sense of calm and tension to the space. It blends beautifully with contemporary minimalist interiors and embodies the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.
Depending on the floor surface where it is installed, it may slightly rattle. In this case, a piece of wood or cushioning material can be placed between the top and the base to stabilize it. The structure itself is very solid and can be used for a long time with peace of mind.
The design is clean and simple, making the most of the charm of the materials while eliminating any waste. The expression that has been nurtured over the years is a charm that can only be found in one-of-a-kind antique pieces. We hope you will enjoy the quiet and powerful beauty of this piece, which is imbued with the spirit of wabi-sabi.
Weight: 19.5 kg (top panel), 11 kg (stump)

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
