It is characterised by its adjustable height and extendable surfaces. This level of flexibility was especially appreciated in functionalist homes, where practicality was highly valued. Otto Wretling (1876–1971) was a multifaceted Swedish designer, furniture maker, architect, and painter based in Umeå. Alongside his brother Wilhelm, he took over their father's paint company and, in 1905, expanded it into a furniture manufacturing enterprise..
