Chinese Low Plank Top Table, circa 1880

About the Item

This low-profile rustic table was originally used in a provincial, Qing-dynasty home as a versatile surface for cooking, dining or drinking. Made of northern Chinese elmwood (yumu), the table has a plank-top surface and straight splayed legs connected by simple stretchers. A sign of its age and use, a rich patina cloaks the table's surface adding fantastic texture and character to the piece. Simple yet beautiful, Ming dynasty-inspired Chinese furniture embraces a refined aesthetic making this a great minimalist option for a center table or even a bench.
