A charming early 20th century Louis XVI style mahogany, gilt bronze mounted and parcel-gilt ovoid two-tier tea or dessert table by P. E. Guerin. The twin-top dessert with quad-supports with parcel-gilt acanthus carvings, the aprons with gilt bronze mounts of scrolls, shields, goats, female masks and cornucopias; raised on for square tapered legs conjoined with a "X" stretch-bar centred with a pierced ormolu basket, New York, circa 1920s. P.E. Guerin was founded in New York in 1857 by French immigrant Pierre Emmanuel Guerin and it has been at its current location on Jane Street in Greenwich Village since 1892. P.E. Guerin is regarded as the oldest decorative hardware firm in the United States. The firm is known for their high-quality bronze (ormolu) work and gilding. For almost two centuries, the firm has been supplying their high quality pieces to important residents, public buildings, parks and institutions in the United States and around the world.
