"Cavalo de Troia" Silkscreen by Álvaro Siza Vieira

About the Item

Cavalo de Troia (The Trojan Horse) - The drawing is a representation of the wooden horse, developed by Odysseus, which the Greeks used during the Trojan War to enter the city of Troy. The Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy, not knowing there was a selected force of men hiding inside, who came out after reaching the city. Álvaro Siza started drawing at the age of six. With a great variety of drawings on his portfolio, many of them are inspired by mythology and historic scenes. “The drawings are what came to my mind in this very moment. I like mythology and expressing the stories in images. I have made a lot of mythological drawing in my life.” Álvaro Siza.

"Desenho" Silkscreen by Álvaro Siza Vieira
By Alvaro Siza
Located in Lisboa, Lisboa
Desenho (Man Painting) - The painting shows someone who begins a drawing, looking on the paper with a pen in the hand. Álvaro Siza describes the very special moment of taking the decision to make a painting, facing the white paper. A reproduction of his situation, doing this series of paintings: not knowing what to do until the decision to draw was being made. Then the idea of mythology came to his mind. “It is, in some way, an expression of my personal moment making drawings. But it is not a self-portrait, I am quite different than this man. It is not a specific person on purpose, because everyone makes drawings. Maybe not everyone does it, but everyone could do it.” Álvaro Siza started drawing at the age of six. With a great variety of drawings on his portfolio, many of them are inspired by mythology and historic scenes. “The drawings are what came to my mind in this very moment. I like mythology and expressing the stories in images. I have made a lot of mythological drawing...

Álvaro Siza Vieira - Wardrobe in Walnut Wood - one of a kind piece
By Alvaro Siza
Located in Lisboa, Lisboa
Don't miss your chance to own this exceptional piece designed by the renowned architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. The ALFAMA wardrobe is truly one of a kind and will never be produced again. A key element for modern living is an efficient use of space. The less area we use for storage, the more room will be available to other things that makes you enjoy living. ALFAMA wardrobe is, in its own unique way, Siza´s proposition to meet these requirements – the ideal cabinet that fits both small and larger apartments and bedrooms. Due to a simple system based on a metal piece placed crosswise, clothes are not hanged next to each other, but behind each other. That creates a little cabinet depth of 51 cm and prevents it from taking much space in the room. On the other hand, its taller than usual expression lies in the fact that Siza wanted to have a dimension that could easily keep a classic long trench coat without the need to fold it. The open top and back of the wardrobe creates constant air ventilation, which allows freshness and, in the author´s own words, “prevents it from the sensation that it has been closed for a long time”. On the bottom of the wardrobe there are two shelves, great for shoes, hand bags...
