About the Item

'Ecriture chromatique en bleu' is an original unique acrylic on canvas painting by Christian Piednoir painted in 2017. In the words of the artist describing his artistic approach. It all starts with the magic of the first brushstroke on the white canvas. The first color, arbitrary and according to the mood of the moment, will define the tone of the whole. Then come the large movements which bring the forms, the drips and tasks. It is through finer gestural writing that the surfaces come to life. The pictorial reading, simply limited by the edges of the canvas, becomes reality. About the artist. Christian Piednoir expresses himself freely, letting the gesture loose without constraint, in a movement that could be described as musical. Influenced by the Masters of lyrical abstraction, he sails with his palette, between cosmos and ocean. The writing of his compositions was inspired by the works of Hans Hartung, Georges Mathieu or Zao Wou-Ki, of which he is an unconditional admirer. “I give free rein to my emotions of the moment. The canvas is my outlet. The abstraction of spontaneous shapes and the choice of colors reflect a moment in my life." This desire for abstract expression was born from the painter’s artistic journey. A trained photographer but also a musician, Christian Piednoir transports his spectators and listeners to an unreal world. These parallel and complementary universes visually lead to a pictorial symphony and offer the viewer a dreamlike escape from the habitual view. He then takes us into his world where the dream only comes together in the present or the future ... Christian Piednoir's canvases find their perfect place on the walls of homes of all sizes and styles; in entrance halls and lobbies of hotels and businesses; in medical waiting rooms and in office meeting rooms and bureaus. Signed Christian Piednoir on the reverse. The painting is unframed and measures: 35ins wide x 51.2ins high x 1in deep.
