Begun around 2014 they were originally throwaway byproducts from my paintings where I masked out areas for spray painting. Often I found the visual effects of screwed up newspaper fascinating and eventually was compelled to turn them into works of art. I came to understand them as a fascinating space to think about the actual and the virtual. Although I am too close to them to be able to see, some have told me that they look like aerial photographs of landscapes; a moonscape or perhaps the stargate sequence from Stanley Kubirck’s 2001.
