Peter Buchman "New York Time, No. 2" Painting, 2016

About

Contemporary artist Peter Buchman's "New York Time, No. 2" acrylic paint on canvas painting was made in 2016. Buchman acts as both Poet and Provocateur when he uses iconic type in his work while examining American culture. The artist finds both beauty, struggle and mystery in the cadence and perception of language. His declarations have much to do with art history as they do with Pop culture. The act of finishing a painting is certainly a mark in time and his "New York Time" painting questions much of what we curiously consider within the status quo. The artist calls these dark gray canvases ‘Voiceovers’. It is a title that describes this collection of canvases as statements in their own right while paying homage to both Warhol and Kawara. Signed on verso. Additional pieces of Peter Buchman fine art available through Highland Park, please contact the dealer for more information. American artist Peter Buchman has BFA in Illustration from The Rhode Island School of Design and did a Sculpture Residency at The School of Visual Arts in New York. Peter's artwork has been exhibited throughout the US since 1981 including the Parrish Art Museum (Southampton, NY), Cooperstown Museum (NY), Delaware Museum of Art, Kidder Smith Gallery (MA) and Vered Gallery (East Hampton, NY). His work is included in the portfolios of collectors including Beth Rudin DeWoody, Nicole Miller, David Yurman and Howard Schultz. He is currently located in New York and East Hampton.
