About the Item

Fabulous 1980s "Untitled Globe Mixed Media Art," on wove paper monoprint artwork painting by the artist Starlie Sokol Hohne. One-of-a-kind exceptional monoprint. It is signed and numbered 1/1 by the artist with pencil along the lower edge. This unique impression artwork is a fascinating blend of historical cartography and contemporary artistic techniques. The central element is a representation of the 17th-century world map "Nova Totivs Terrarvm Orbis Geograph," created by figures like Henricus Hondius or Willem Janszoon Blaeu during the Golden Age of Dutch Cartography. The artwork features muted, aged tones reminiscent of old maps, with a warm, earthy base. The central globe utilizes muted, aged tones such as various shades of sepia, cream, light browns, and pale yellows. Surrounding the globe there are prominent areas of vibrant, textured reddish-browns with touches of faded blues and greens. It is presented in a simple cherry wood frame with a natural color linen matting and plexiglass, which adds depth and a classic touch to the artwork without distracting from its vibrant colors. This exquisite artwork is a breathtaking piece of collectible art. Starlie Sokol Hohne (born 1958 in Santa Monica, California) is a prominent contemporary American artist who pursued her artistic education at UCLA, completing her studies in 1980. She is renowned for her innovative use of mixed media, often incorporating elements of antiquity, such as historical maps or classical imagery, with contemporary methods like photography, collage, and hand painting. Her process involves meticulously assembling photographic images and then enhancing them with physical collage and hand-painted details to create a unique and cohesive visual narrative. Hohne has exhibited her work nationally, and her pieces are held in numerous private, public, and corporate collections, reflecting her established presence in the art world. Roseline Koener mixed-media 2002 About the artist: My adventurous journey as an artist has been focused on accessing the magic pool of vibrant colors and life forces deep within me. I marvel at the infinite richness and divine beauty of colors, sounds, patterns, textures, and fragrances of Mother Nature. I am inspired and amazed by the powerful and dynamic cycles of life, which generate newness and oneness. The circular movements of planets and every cell, the miraculous growth of plants and mountains, the morning’s eclosion of roses, and the buoyancy of ocean waves fascinate me. Artists and musicians like Klee, Matisse, Tombly, Motherwell, Frankenthaler, Anatsui, Bach, Hafiz, Rumi, Hildegard von...
