About the Item

This screen, imported from China at the end of the 19th c. ,seems to freely mix traditional motifs, bamboos, vegetations, exotic birds of all kinds, mythical insects, profusely adorn these romantic detachable panels forming a ravishing wall decoration. The four panels form and inseparable ensemble. The beauty, the masterly craftsmanship of those exotic creations, deep red silk ground entirely hand embroidered in gold metallic and colored silk threads, make it an heirloom to treasure. The embroidered panels, newly mounted, have found their way naturally to the gilt bamboo frames of same dimensions. And so, a new life begins… Image 2, the panels ( detached ), as shown in Paris, with an extraordinary pair of gilt wood chinese inspiration planters, second empire, forming a spiritual and romantic atmosphere! FREE DELIVERY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE Ce paravent importé de Chine à la fin du 19ème s. semble jouer librement avec les motifs traditionnels, bambous et végétations, oiseaux exotiques en tous genres, insectes fabuleux, ornent à profusion ce délicieux paravent dont les panneaux se détachent formant un ravissant décor mural. Les quatre panneaux se complètent et forment un ensemble indissociable. La beauté d’un travail d’une virtuosité extrême, fait de ces créations exotiques, réalisées en fils or et de couleurs sur un fond en soie rouge foncé, entièrement brodés à la main, un objet à chérir... Les panneaux brodés sont dans un état parfait et n’avaient jamais été montés, ils ont trouvés leur place, naturellement dans les panneaux en bambou doré de même dimension. Et voilà un ensemble qui reprend vie… Image 2: Les panneaux sont présentés, accompagnés d’une paire d’extraordinaires jardinières d’inspiration chinoise en bois doré, second empire, pour une ambiance, spirituelle et romantique.

A Korean four-panel folding screen circa 1830s, from the late Joseon Dynasty. The painting depicts a vivid hunting scene on four vertical scroll panels mounted with brocade borders. The four panels are related to each other in narrative but not in an absolutely continuous fashion, therefore they could be viewed individually and independently, which was not uncommon in the screen paintings as they are meant to be folded and unfolded as needed.
