About the Item

Early 21st century, a pair of framed giclee prints from the "Mustang Series" by Dominique Samyn (born 1952), Belgium and USA. The work with the horse looking to the right is titled "Buddy". The other is titled "Diva". The colors used reflect the light of New Mexico. About Dominique Samyn, New Mexico Artist: Dominique Samyn (1952-) was born in Flanders, Belgium, where she studied fine arts. In 1989 she moved to the Washington DC area and studied painting at the Corcoran College of Fine Arts. From 1998 to 2001 she lived and worked in Lima, Peru. During that time she painted the "Galapagos Series” after a trip to the famous islands in Ecuador. In 2002 she had a studio in the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia. There she worked on the abstract paintings called “Noah Series” inspired by a toddler, Noah. In 2006 she has began working in her studio in New Mexico on her new contemporary paintings called “Mustang Series”, "Sunshine Express Series and "Adobe Series". Her latest work is more abstract, influenced by the New Mexico landscape and by symbols used by Native Americans. She has had numerous shows and awards in the DC area, Belgium and Peru. Dominique Samyn's art is in private and corporate collections worldwide.
