Antique Arts and Crafts Window Sashes with 19th Century Botanicals

About the Item

Marvelous old antique top window sashes, salvaged from an arts and crafts home, built in the early 1920's. They retain the original wavy glass. Mounted within are six 19th century custom matted botanical engravings "Sowerby's English Botany, or, Coloured Figures of British Plants". Sowerby was a famous English naturalist, illustrator and mineralogist. Original engravings from the 1866 edition. Plates included: Purple Foxglove, Great Bilberry, Round-headed Rampion, Spreading Bell-flower, Yellow Toadflax, Striped Toadflax. Two available.

    Additions or alterations made to the original: Botanicals custom matted in arts and crafts window sash. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Wear commensurate with age; some chipping here and there; there are small dents and chips. The putty around the glass has been re-caulked.
