Color Lithograph by Erté "L'Ange à la Harpe"

About the Item

L'ange à la harpe, color lithograph numbered LXXXIV/CL by Romain de Tirtoff dit Erté (1892-1990). He was born in Saint Petersburg to a famous Russian family whose father was an admiral in the imperial fleet. He moved to Paris in 1912 and took Erté (RT) as his artist's name, so as not to disgrace his illustrious family. He worked for Paul Poiret, designing costumes and sets for theater, opera and even silent films in Hollywood. His work was emblematic of the Art Deco period. In 2016, the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg paid tribute to him with an exceptional exhibition of his work: costume sketches, covers for Vogue and Harpar's Bazaar. Including a copy of our Harpist Angel. Attractive frame in patinated wood and gilded fillet with hammered effect. Sight size 61 x 96 cm.
