We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning suite of four, newly framed in Pollard Oak, Charles Dominique Fouquerary 1914 dated water colour sketches of WW1.
Charles Dominique Fouqueray (Le Mans, 23 April 1869 – 28 March 1956) was a French painter. He studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris under Alexandre Cabanel and Fernand Cormon. From 1908 he was Peintre de la Marine, following the career of his father, a naval officer. He was recipient of the 1909 Prix Rosa Bonheur, then in 1914 the first Prix de l'Indochine
A sublime suite of four trench art water colour sketches, I absolutely loved them hence I had them framed in this very earthy pollard oak frame with racing green mount.
The sketches have various signatures and dates along with little paragraphs etc, very difficult to read as they are small and in pencil.
The condition is exquisite, they are over a hundred years old but are free from damage.
