A framed plaster portrait plaque of the Glasgow Reformist MP James Oswald, signe
Located in Lymington, Hampshire
A framed plaster portrait plaque of the Glasgow Reformist MP James Oswald, signed and dated Carlo Marochetti, 1842, of circular form, shown facing to the right within a black border and the original glazed giltwood frame. Another version of this plaque is in the collection of Glasgow Museums and can be seen on the Art UK website James Oswald (1779-1853) was a successful Glasgow merchant who later inherited various landed estates due to the early death of his cousin. Sophie Coryndon, Tapestry Fragment Triptych, UK
By Sophie Coryndon
Located in New York, NY
Tapestry Fragment Triptych is composed of two panels of layered, cast Jesmonite honeycomb, that have been gilded with 23.5 ct gold leaf. The overlapping layers of the panels hang, emulating ornate textiles. Coryndon became interested in bees after learning about the current global crisis facing the insects. At once colossal and delicate, Dossel beautifully preserves the fragility of its source material. Dossal is the term for an ornamental cloth suspended behind an altar. It is sometimes referred to as an alter screen...
