About the Item
Pair of 20th century large Venetian Renaissance revival wood panels.
Wood panels in hand painted Venetian Renaissance Revival Fresco work. The Sgraffito style motif is delicately polychrome painted in lacquer of different colors. The panels are richly decorated with foliage, garlands, maidens, peacock and pegasus placed around a gazebo.
Each panel faces the other. They are well balanced and brightly colored with gilt accents on a black background. The design is a return to classical themes and it makes an extravagant and magnificent interior addition.
Condition is very good. Wear commensurate with age and use.
