Pair of Arts & Crafts Style Hand Painted & Enameled Tropical Fish Paintings 1940
About the Item
Amazing workmanship enamel paintings in original frames.
This unique and stunning pair of Midcentury Modern enamel paintings, in our view, is fit for a fine art museum, because this is the type of refined artwork that you don't find aymore in this day and age. And whomever created these works of fine art must have been at the top of his or her game, because the refinement in both the details and the colors is among the best we have ever seen in this artform. These small paintings from the heydays of the European Mid-Century Modern era are almost certainly done on copper plates and they are in their original, late 1930s or early 1940s wooden frames. The two stunning and vibrantly colored enameled paintings are in mint condition and apart from a minor damage to the frame on the left (in image number one), the original frames too are superb. Artworks like these were made from the heart (some would say from the soul) and that is exactly why their colors and beauty lift our spirits. In a spiritual manner humans can be colorful too, but in the animal world the amazing colors that are in these paintings as well can be found on the 'outer level' also. And when art is this good, it is a blessing to be able to surround yourself with it. The original frames come with a guilded lining on the inside, but have you also noticed the golden paint that was used inside these unique artworks? It is art and antiques like this that are a big part of why we are so grateful to be able to do what we do. Also, because we already know that one of you in the 1stdibs community is going to be the next custodian of these hand-crafted masterpieces. If ever there was a pair of perfectly made, tropical fish, enameled paintings from the Midcentury Modern era then it must be these 'eye-catchers'. They were probably made by the last line of artisans whom had learned their skills from previous generations. These little Arts and Crafts Style masterpieces are signed JN, but, as so often is the case, we were unable to find out about the artist. If you already have a place and space in mind for this gorgeous pair then maybe you should be their next custodian.
These rare works of art certainly are great value for money. Also, because our price for this stunning and unique pair includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 3 to 5 days.

- Arts and Crafts Enameled Glass Pendant w. Floral Pattern & Wrought Iron CanopyLocated in Lisse, NLStunning work of lighting art with unique color and floral pattern. If you are passionate about early 20th century glass art in general and Arts & Crafts lighting in particular then you will love this one of a kind, art glass light fixture. What you are seeing here is an extremely rare, enameled glass pendant. This stylish and truly classy pendant is signed 'Selin' or 'Felin' or 'Gelin' and we cannot find another light by this, clearly very talented, maker anywhere else in the world. With late 19th and early 20th century lighting being one of our specialities, we can tell you that in our 30+ years of dealing in special fixtures, we have only seen fixtures of this quality and beauty by the likes of Galle and Schneider. Their fixtures were made with the exact same techniques that were used to create this antique work of art. Both the design and the colors make this unique light at least as impressive as the Galle and Schneider ones. What makes this unique light extra desirable is the original and also handcrafted and handpainted, wrought iron canopy. It is the perfect finish to this wonderful antique fixture. Apart from the perfectly matching, replacement mat black chain this one of a kind light fixture is over 100 years old and it is of such great quality and condition that it will at least be around for another 100 years. One fine day this unique pendant could grace the collection of a museum, but until then you could be its first next custodian. Mind you, this pendant has been professionally rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well. Because of the warm and pleasant color that it radiates this, to us, is the perfect, serene pendant...Category
