A vintage midcentury red color silk brocade collectable Japanese ceremonial wedding kimono. One of a kind handcrafted. Fabulous museum quality ceremonial piece in pure silk with intricate detailed hand-embroidery throughout accented with gold lame threads work that depicts, peacocks, trees, flowers and leaves designs in silver, green, white and gold, all of them traditional symbols of prosperity and auspiciousness. A beautiful vintage Uchikake Wedding Kimono/Robe for ceremonial occasion, in the Oriental Art Deco style. The bridal garment with intricate embroidery of motifs of flying cranes and large bird-in-paradise leaves. The stylized forms of the subject matters, the repetitive pattern, the use of the red highlight synergize a strong Art Deco graphic. The outer garment is larger than life-size and meant for ceremonial use only. It is supposed to trail along the floor, this is also why it is heavily padded with cotton weighted bottom along the trim hem. Has long, sweeping sleeves and elaborate patterns that run, unbroken, across the back and onto the backs of the sleeves around the whole body and across the front and onto the fronts of the sleeves. These kimonos have an elegant silhouette reaching down to the trailing hem for an overall effect that is feminine and sophisticated Fully lined with white fabric, Numbered with maker tag and signature, circa 1950s. Neck-to-sleeve's cuff's hem measures 22 1/4", sleeve's length is 42", cuff's opening circumference is 17", sleeve width is 13"5, hem measures 52", underarm circumference is 54", underarm-to-hem is 65 1/2".
