Set of Four Napoleonic Period Drawings

About the Item

These four drawings, while small in scale but large in style and impact, are of fine quality. Two are of priest and two are of officers. The paper, a fine blue color, makes the drawings even more sensitive in feeling. Almost surely done from life and part of a study for a painting or future reference. The works are accomplished and show feeling and detail easily recognized even from a distance. The upheavals produced in the period of Napoleon's times and wars created a mass interest in the common man among artists wishing to promote France, the revolution and the possible elevation of individuals through their character and nature of their personalities and not thru rank or birth.
