17th Century Portrait

About the Item

Exceptional mid 17th century portrait of a very beautiful and elegant lady - wearing dress and jewels typical of the period - sadly the sitter is unknown - a superb quality painting in the style of Sir Godfrey Kneller who succeeded Sir Peter Levy court painter to Charles II - this is unsigned so we can only attribute to ‘the circle of’ Oil on canvas - housed in a quality period ebonised wood with gilded decoration frame Photos show all four corners of the frame and rear of canvas
