About the Item
Important nude oil on canvas by Hungarian School artist Pal Fried (1893-1976). Fried trained in Paris and under famous pastelist Hugo Pohl at the Hungarian Academie in Budapest. Fried emigrated to New York after World War II and became known for his portraits in oil. His paintings of nudes, street scenes, and horseracing, and his portraits of high society figures, movie personalities and ballerinas, have been highly collectible since the 1950s.
