About

Important great oil painting on canvas coming from a collection of 20th century works. Painting signed by Guido Paolo Pajetta, an artist of great importance, who entered the history of art among the great 20h century Italian painters. This painting is signed. landscape with subject some horses at rest. This painting was certainly performed around the 1930s when the artist feels the influence of the artistic movement of the French Fauves. In fact, we note that the colors are very vivid and combined with sharp brushstrokes. This artist immediately achieved a very high pictorial quality. Biographical note: Guido Pajetta was born in Monza on 8 February 1889. His father, originally from Vittorio Veneto, is a pharmacist, but in his family art is in the blood. Grandfather Paolo and his uncles Peter and Mariano were, in fact, all painters and non-secondary exponents of the naturalistic tradition in Venetian painting. Of his artistic genius Guido Pajetta will be the heir in the twentieth century. He enrolled in 1914 at the Accademia di Brera, but in the war infatuation of 1917, a voluntary part among the Arditi. A pulmonary and intestinal disease during the retreat of Caporetto forces him however to the hospital and, once the war ended, in 1919 he resumed attending the Ambrogio Alciati courses at the Accademia di Brera. Brera is in those years an environment full of ferments. Among his companions there are Atanasio Soldati and Gino Ghiringhelli, who will give life to the first abstraction in Italy, and there are Del Bon, Lilloni, De Amicis, the future chiaristi in short, which, at the end of the 30s will also approach Guido Pajetta , after the years of youthful enthusiasm for Sironi and of the participation in the artistic climate of the twentieth century between 1928 and 1934 and after the metaphysical and surreal brackets of 1934-35, nourished by the elastic assimilation of the paintings of Dufy and the French Fauves, which will give a very personal character to his clarity in the years between 1939 and 1946. This is how the eclectic tendency in his painting will remain the basic characteristic of his work and which is continually resolved, as pointed out by Mario De Micheli, in an extraordinary "ability to assimilate on his own, that is without the original character of his own nature. remains sacrificed ", different artistic and formal languages. He died peacefully on February 15, 1987 in his home-studio in Via Delio Tessa 1, in Milan.
