We present you this vibrant oil-on-canvas seascape of the Port of Martigues by the renowned artist Charles Malfroy who was born in Lyon in 1862 and passed away in the Kremlin-Bicêtre in 1939. His signature is visible in the lower right corner, and the artwork's soft colours and pleasing composition are a testament to this Provençal painter's prowess. It's in perfect condition and measures 73 cm in width and 47 cm in height without the frame and 63 cm in width and 87 cm in height including the frame.
Charles Malfroy (1862-1939) was a French marine painter famous in particular for depicting harbor views. Malfroy's paintings are primarily oil on canvas, although there are also a few oil on panel works available in the market. His paintings are characterized by their golden light, vibrant color palette, and particularly lively brushwork.
