Aaron Finkbiner is a listed and certainly respected Abstract Expressionist artist. Splitting his time between his studios in New Jersey and California, he maintains a highly disciplined approach to painting with a foundation that draws on his love of architecture, landscape and raw nature. As he begins the process of deconstructing this foundation, he paintings intuitively trying to balance emotion with contemplation. In doing so, he does not see the end result of a painting nor does he contemplate the characteristics it will take on. He simply allows the creative process to unfold before him.
Aaron's skill with color combinations comes from his extensive study of ancient Japanese artisans who would skilfully mixed the most varied, and sometimes the most obscure elements to obtain precise colors. It often takes him hours and hours to create the colors he uses in his paintings. This brilliant painting titled "A Toast To New Life Past" showcases Aaron's skill at blending colors and layering with a variety of brush techniques. The result is a composition that demands exploration. Executed in oil on canvas and signed verso.
