Andreas Wachter (*1951), Restposten (Remainders), 2023

About the Item

Oil on hardboard Canvas Dimensions: 147 x 89.5 cm Monogrammed and dated AW’23 at the lower right. Signed, dated and titled on the reverse. Andreas Wachter was born in Chemnitz in 1951. He studied under Volker Stelzmann and Arno Rink at the Hochschule für Graphik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Italy became a constant travel destination and source of inspiration for his artistic work. In addition to the landscape, the omnipresent influence of antiquity and the Renaissance in Italian cities is essential to Wachter's oeuvre.European art history plays a major role in his works, some of which are described as "old masterly paintings". Some of the figures appear to be quotes from paintings and sculptures from antiquity or the Renaissance, giving the viewer a certain sense of déjà vu. His works often have a sacred atmosphere; his interior paintings in particular are reminiscent of the lighting in a church context in their mostly dark surroundings, coupled with the punctual light sources.

Original Andrea Kowch Painting
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
This is a rare opportunity to purchase an original Andrea Kowch Painting. She painted the canvas on 5 sides. This gives an expansive view of the image. A dramatic depiction of classic Andrea Kowch style. The deep thought in her characters and a symbolic tie to animal imagery. Titled "Fetch", you can bring your own imagination into meaning and I am sure the artist has hers. The painting is brilliant in every way, sparks the imagination and like all great art inspires endless thought and contemplation. The overall size with the frame is 15.5" x 15.5" and shows much larger with its imagery and colorful impact. This painting is currently available to view in person at are gallery in Sag Harbor on main. Black Swan...

By Aurel K. Basedow
Located in New York, NY
While visually maintaining a balance of chaos and control, Aurel K. Basedow’s paintings become a conversation between the rigid technical handling of resin, his chosen media, and the gestural possibilities of chromatic layering. Basedow most closely shares a kinship with 20th century painters like Mark Rothko, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, and Hermann Nitsch, whose paintings convey emotion and energy through physical and conceptual expression rather than realistic depiction or predetermined outcomes. Employing various mediums, the artist creates a vigorous composition of geometric lines and expressive brush strokes, with each gesture building on the previous one, separated by layers of clear resin. The use of multiple pigments and pouring techniques can create a fluid, dynamic appearance, with the colors mixing and blending together in unpredictable ways. Basedow leaves the edges of his paintings unrefined, revealing a visual history of each layered application. The use of resin also allows Basedow to incorporate unusual objects...
