An antique Islamic miniature painting on paper with a traditional plot from secular life, circa 1800. Painted in opaque watercolor with gold acents. On a dais under a red canopy sits the ruler, who is surrounded on all sides by his subjects, looking at him with reverence and respect. Islamic miniatures are small paintings on paper, usually book or manuscript illustrations but also sometimes separate artworks. The earliest examples date from around 1000 AD, with a flourishing of the artform from around 1200 AD. Antique Islamic Miniature, Illustrations, Vintage Oriental art, Collectibles.
