About the Item
- An original watercolour from the Italian painter Gustavo Simoni (1845-1926).
- Wonderful depiction of a man of swagger 'The Sentinel', signed and inscribed ROMA and dated 1873.
- The painting was recently acquired from a townhouse in London from the residence of a lady of title.
- The watercolour is housed inside its original gold frame which has age and some crackling and chips to the front and side.
- Height 61cm, Width 50cm, Depth 4cm.
Gustavo Simoni (1845-1926) was an Italian painter, watercolorist and art teacher. He is best known for his Orientalist scenes but was also famous for creating scenes of genre and historical moments from ancient Rome.
