About the Item
An oil on canvas signed in the lower right and inscribed with the location in the lower left. Featuring a glimpse of life in Cairo. The painting is presented in what is probably its original frame measuring 33" x 35.5" overall.
The work presents very well overall. Odelmark's most desirable scenes are of Cairo with details of every day Egyptian life in the late 19th and turn of the century.
Frans Wilhelm Odelmark (Swedish, 1849-1937)
He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm and after that in Düsseldorf and in Munich. He painted people in everyday live and picturesque architectural subjects, mainly with subjects from Europe and the Orient, staying in Egypt for an extended period and where he made many colorful paintings of Cairo. He executed works in watercolor, pastel and oil.

The frame is period and probably original with some dings here as would be expected with its age. Wear consistent with age and use. Presents very well overall.
