About the Item
Rare early 19th century Chinese Qing Export Reverse Painting on mirror. Picture features Chinese man and woman sitting on a bank of river with a Chinese landscape scene in background. Beautiful colors of blue, green, red and brown throughout. Reverse glass pictures became fashionable in the 18th century where the glass panels were sent from Europe to China where they were painted to order, framed, and returned to the west for use in Chinese-inspired interiors. Comes with Period giltwood frame.
