Fred Otnes Jr Mixed Media Figural Painting on Board
By Fred Otnes
Located in New York, NY
Exquisite painting by prominent artist Fred Otnes, Jr of a figural woman in gold, orange and warm earth colors. This unique mixed media of oil and collage has diverse layers in the painting although to the touch the painting is smooth. From the personal collection of the artist. Image only is 29.25" high by 26.25" wide. Colors on the painting may vary due to room lighting and photography.
Fred Otnes (1925-2015), was a prominent illustrator, painter and collage artist who embraced abstraction.
“Fred Otnes brings to his collage paintings a classical refinement and control that makes poetry out of chance pictorial effects,” the artist and critic Maureen Mullarkey wrote in reviewing a retrospective in Manhattan in 2006 for The New York Sun...

Massimo Catalani Arancio Con 3 Foglie Original Mixed Media on Board
Located in Dayton, OH
"Vintage mixed media on board still life by Italian artist Massimo Catalani (b. 1960) titled “Arancio Con 3 Foglie” (Orange with Three Leaves), showing a light golden orange on a branch with three leaves against a metallic bronze background. circa 2000. Measure : 18".
Massimo Catalani was born in Rome in 1960 and has been living and working there eversince. He graduated in Architecture in 1988. In his thesis he had already begun experimenting with mixed media that included painting, modelling and architectural masonry. In his first group exhibition, he presented subjects that were “irreverent” not only for the world of art but also for the public: plates of pasta with zucchini, roman artichokes, prickly pears and chili pepper triptychs. After the success of his first personal exhibition in Rome, various exhibitions in Italy and abroad followed. In the last five years, the distinction of his work has lead him to present exhibitions and performances in the main cities of Europe, in the USA, in Korea, Russia, Japan, in the EAU and in South America. His works are part of important private and public collections worldwide.
Extended:
Massimo Catalani was born in Rome on April 2, 1960. He grew up in his mother's stationery shop surrounded by books, brushes and colours. He graduated in 1988 in Architectural Composition and enrolled in the Order of Architects of Rome. In the thesis project he experiments, and invents, pictorial mixtures on the border between painting, sculpture, architectural masonry and it is here that he decides for his debut as an artist. In the first group exhibitions he exhibited subjects irreverent for the art world and reverent for the public, overturning the common sense of the time. In the first personal exhibition ""Natura Picta"",at Roma&Arte, in Rome, he puts colorful paintings on the wall, simple subjects, surprising materials in a world poised between conceptual and minimal, initiating a way of exposing himself that is also certainly artistic but also social and ecological activism. In 1993, in response to the mafia's bombs, he painted chickens in search of new intelligences. In 1995 at the Polyptych he presented “Vedo Terra” , fixed points in a turbulent world placed in images of the sea. In 1996 he presented an exhibition of tactile painting for sighted and non-sighted people in Santa Maria in Vallicella: ""Sento Terra"" , with the Municipality and Caritas, in support of the Lega del Filo d'Oro. In 1997, in Geneva, she inaugurated “Woman, Just part of Her”.In 1998 he gave life to Video-Walls composing analogies of television screens depicting what television cannot show: the beauty of a priceless object. In 1999 he intervened on the agricultural character of Rome with the title ""Metropoli Agricola""; paintings, sculptures and installations at the Regional Authority for agricultural areas of Lazio: from where a bunch of tomatoes measuring 6×6 meters rises towards the city. In 2000 at the Arthus gallery in Brussels he presented a vast anthology, subsequently in the PescePalla gallery, Tribeca, New York, offers ""LIFE"" a vision of Italy and the nature of its foods. In the same year he presented in the cloister of SS. Quattro Incoronati, in Rome, the exhibition ""Sacred Symbols"". In 2001, from Campaiola gives life to“Are you afraid of being Beautiful?” where he attributes to the roses the additional symbolic value of representing the beauty of painting in general. In 2002 she painted and donated a tree to the Gin Charity Gala in Montecarlo for the victims of 9/11. In 2003 you returned to the themes of Architecture by presenting ""La mia Roma"" in Milan. You deal with the theme of the interpretation of the love text with the exhibition ""SMS-TXT Hermeneutics of the love message"" , curated by AM Sette and presented at the Teatro Sala Umberto, Rome. Other exhibitions in Belgium, Switzerland. In spring 2004 you hold an anthology in Seoul. In September she held a one-man show in New York entitled “My Urbanity”. In the winter of 2005 you presented “Anto-illogica” in Milan and Geneva .He opens 2006 with the series “Individual and Society”: the individual in his social group and their collective intelligence. Work on the immanence of celestial space begins, while he reflects with Vincenzo Cerami and prepares the ""Roots of Italian Wine"" which will leave Tokyo in November 2007 to tour Japan and then continue on to Australia. In Rome with Greenpeace mounts and wins a Campaign against the use of GMOs in Parmigiano Reggiano...
