Early 20th Century Oil Painting Flower Still Life by Julien Stappers
About the Item
A beautiful flower still life painting. Most likely the Thalictrum Nimbus plant, in a copper vase. Signed bottom right Julien Stappers. Painted with oil paint on canvas. The painting is behind a glass, so the colors remain beautiful. In an original wood-gilded frame in Art Deco style. The painting and the frame are both in very good condition. No damages, no repairs. Original. Great colour scheme with brightness and nice old patina.

Julien Stappers. Belgium, 1875-1960
Julien Stappers was a painter, student at the Academy of Antwerp under the direction of A. De Vriendt from 1894 to 1899, at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1899 to 1901. Exhibited for the first time in 1903. Painted mainly flowers, but also cityscapes and landscapes. Sunny color palette. Exhibited in Gallery Rubens in Brussels, Gallery Jordaens in Ghent. Mentioned in the "Des Beaux-Arts de Wallonie" and in BAS III. (Source: De Belgische Beelden kunstenaars, Paul Piron)
