French 19th Century Oil on Canvas Hamlet Painting with Circular Fountain
About the Item
A French oil on canvas landscape painting from the 19th century, depicting an elegant hamlet with fountain in the foreground. Created in France during the 19th century, this painting depicts a serene and peaceful scene. Hidden behind trees, a hamlet shelters a few elegant figures. The foreground reveals the presence of a circular fountain with water jet and swans leading our eye to the Italian Baroque inspired grotto. The owner, dressed in blue and holding a cane, is pointing to a scene invisible to us. The lady of the house is walking with her daughter on the left. The blue sky with fluffy clouds frames the ensemble. The painting is unframed and a signature in red is present in the lower right section. However the identity of the painter cannot be determined. With its skillful depiction and peaceful presence, this French oil on canvas painting from the 19th century will make for a charming addition to any home, hung above a side table, commode or buffet.
