About the Item
George Franklin Arbuckle’s (Canadian, 1909–2001) paintings are strong and original representations of the Canadian landscape, cityscape and depictions of American Social Life; so reminiscent of Norman Rockwell! He had a keen sense of composition and his ability to capture the mood & impact of a specific time and place is highly regarded. He was born in Toronto in 1909. He studied at the Ontario College of Art under J.E.H. MacDonald, F.S. Challener, and J.W. Beatty, later teaching there himself and winning several awards for his work.
