About the Item
Evocative oil on canvas signed by Giuseppe "Bepi" Marino (1916-1975), a painter active in Veneto in the 20th century and known for his Venetian views. The painting depicts a typical scene of the lagoon city: a gondolier in action along a canal, bathed in the vibrant light of historic Venice, with the dynamic reflections of the architecture on the water. Composition with a modern cut, played on the freshness of the brushstroke and the contrast between the brightness of the water and the soft tones of the buildings.
The work comes with a wooden frame, likely applied at the time of the sale at the Galleria Antiquaria Bordin in Verona, of which there is an original label on the back indicating the author and title. Signed lower right.
