Rolf Gösta Calmeyer was born in New York in 1927. His parents, who were originally from Sweden and Norway, moved to Stockholm with him in 1928. Calmeyer’s father was a notable industrial designer who designed the “Cobra telephone”. Calmeyer studied at the Statens Håndverks- og Kunstindustriskole (State School of Crafts and Art Industry) in Oslo in 1949 and 1950. Calmeyer also painted under the name Nystedt Lysell. He was best known as a Swedish illustrator and fine artist.
He died in 2022.
