The artist is well known for his pastoral scenes during his years in Maryland and the New York area. This perspective piece plays with dancing light and shadow and immediately draws the viewer into the painting.
A phenomenal American painting that would be ideal for an over-mantle or centerpiece for any American art collection. This wonderfully detailed painting is illustrative of his best artistic work. A similar painting by Jones sold for over $50,000 several years ago.
A beautiful and rich painting with the purest colors of a bright summer day is one of Hugh Bolton Jones finest (and largest) works.
Provenance: This painting was on loan to the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the past ten years.
