Irish Oil on Canvas of Ballaghadereen Bog by Seamus Coleman
About the Item
Lovely piece of original Irish Art, by one of our favorite Irish artists.
Painting by popular and rapidly rising Irish Artist, Seamus Coleman of County Roscommon.
This painting is titled “Ballaghadereen Bog”.
Signed on the bottom left and dated 2004.
Gorgeous colors that capture the essence of an Irish Peat Bog in Summer.
In Summertime, over the centuries, Irish people have harvested peat from the peat bogs to make peat logs or "turf" as it is known, for winter fuel for the fire. Rural Irish people would own small bog plots and in the summer they would cut the peat logs and stack them in piles to dry. Once dry they were perfect fuel for the winter fire and stove.
Irish Bogs have their own unique native flora and fauna and this painting beautifully reflect this !
Irish Bogs are rapidly disappearing as is the practice of cutting and burning turf, carbon emissions and all that!
So, this painting will only appreciate in value, as it beautifully reflects a period of Irish history and culture that may soon be forgotten.
Framed behind glass, fully signed and original.
If you are Irish-American (or any other ancestry for that matter) you will love this guy's work, it is quintessentially Irish!
He truly captures the spirit of Irish country living.
His works are a historic visual record of changing times and times never to be seen again.

- Irish Oil on Canvas of Ballagh Horse Fair by Seamus ColemanBy Seamus ColemanLocated in Dallas, TXLovely piece of original Irish Art from one of our favourite artists. Painting by popular and r`apidly rising Irish Artist, Seamus Coleman of County Roscommon. This painting is titled ” Ballagh Horse Fair”. Signed on the bottom right. Framed and under glass. Original frame. Ireland is world famous for its equine industry. Irish horses of all breeds are highly prized and sought out internationally. Ireland is very proud of this. This painting depicts a Horse Fair in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon in the West of Ireland. There are many horse fairs throughout Ireland, especially in the Summertime. Local Breeders will bring their ponies into the local town square or Market square and trade, buy, sell and barter ponies. What I love about this painting is it's 'whimsical' depiction of a fair in that you have ponies and a group of farmers in heated debate (haggling). The cause of this heated debate in on the bottom left..a donkey! Someone is trying to trade a donkey for a pony, hence the debate! it then, has the classic Irish Pub...Category

- Large Irish Watercolor Snow on the Bog by Rev JH FlackLocated in Dallas, TXPresenting a fabulous late 20th century piece of original Irish Art by the Late Reverend J.H. Flack of Athy, Co. Kildare, a renowned, listed, exhibited and respected Irish watercolorist. circa 2000. “Snow on the Bog” – depicts a winter scene in the Irish Midlands, famous for the largest Bog in Europe, The Bog of Allen. Framed, matted and under glass. The painting is signed but the signature is just under the matte. It beautifully captures a blanket of snow over the wet flat and sparsely vegetated boglands, with the reeds and rushes protruding from the snow and the bog holes still visible in the blanket of snow. It has a beautiful blurriness to it, the more you look at it the more you get captivated by the serenity and white haze !! Perfect for Texas summers: feel yourself cool down just looking at it !!!!!
