Italian Abstract Painting Acrylic on Cardboard, 1960s, Aldo Gentilini

About the Item

Beautiful Italian abstract painting acrylic on cardboard, 1960s, signed by Aldo Gentilini. Aldo Gentilini (1912-1982) Self-taught painter and sculptor; his painting of him is the painting of moments, moments that one tries to hold back, nuances of souls and sensations fixed in a sign, in a hatching that in some way recalls a Mirò. He follows courses in philosophy and for several years lives in a monastic cloister. Aldo Gentilini's is an artistic life made of ups and downs. A great innovator for his time, he devoted himself to painting with great enthusiasm, preferring the oil technique but not neglecting acrylic colors at all. His paintings, characterized by bright colors, sometimes strident, develop in pseudo-cubist compositions in which the fields of pure color create a dialectic that is projected out of the canvas. A prolific author, he had his heyday at the turn of the 60s/70s when his fame crossed regional borders. After years of undeserved oblivion, his works are once again finding the interest of the most refined public. He has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Canada, America, Australia, Germany and Switzerland.
