The painting is in excellent condition and bears a lovely gold frame. The work measures 36 x 24 inches. The frame is 42 x 30 inches. The painting is signed lower right and also signed and dated on the verso, 2006. The title is seen on the verso on the label: "Escape" Artist John Burton (b. 1966) is a graduate of Arizona State University and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. The artist won the top award at the 2003 Oil Painters of America show and competition in Taos, New Mexico and an award of excellence at the 2004 show. Burton was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but moved to Los Altos, California at the age of two. Burton always wanted to be an artist and when he was in fifth grade he broke his back and spent his recovery drawing and sketching. He attended Arizona State University but, feeling the art program was lacking he earned a degree in business and marketing. He went on to work as a graphic artist for six years after graduation.
