About

Judith Dazzio (American born 1942) Size with frame 29" wide x 25" high Size without frame 24" wide x 20" high. Biography: Judith Dazzio is an artist as well as an art instructor. Her early years were spent in New Hampshire where she completed her undergraduate work at the University of New Hampshire in Fine Art and Art Education. While teaching in Massachusetts, she did graduate work at Boston University and Massachusetts College of Art. She married and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she taught art and eventually became the State Director of Art Education. She moved to Florida in 1987. Here she further developed both as an artist and an art educator. At this time she teaches at The Art Center in St. Petersburg, and continues to surprise and satisfy her collectors with her one person and group shows. A top award winner in many art competitions and shows, Dazzio is sought after to juror and judge for many important shows. Her work is collected nationally, internationally, and is included in many corporate collections. Her showings, both in galleries and museums take place several times per year. Imbued with a sense of place, her life experiences and love of people shine forth in her paintings. Dazzio’s jazz paintings show the knowledge and love of having lived in the New Orleans area, and they are available nationally. Her sports paintings are in print and are distributed through out the world. Judith paints on both paper and canvas and each painting usually portrays her favorite subjects: people caught in a moment of time. Some of these are humorous, as in her newest series of French people. She goes to Europe each year with many of her students (led by Enez Hart), and these exotic travels have given her an insight into the people and environs of more and more exotic locales. She won a top prize in the highly esteemed National Acrylic Painters Association Annual Show in 2003! Her painting called Hollow (which is an emotionally charged, deeply constructed and designed depiction of holocaust suffering), was chosen among thousands of entrants, and such honor is a great achievement in her career. A born artist, Judith Dazzio has sown the seeds of her avid vocation in the hearts of thousands of students throughout her dazzling career. Her example as an artist both delights and inspires her students to approach their paintings with the freedom, creativity, and carefully honed skill of a true artist. She carries that role very well with humor, inspiration, and the clarity of a dedicated artist.
