Large canvas representing a couple in their dressing room at the theatre. Very beautiful and elegant genre scene by Henri Joseph Thomas.
Henri Joseph Thomas (1878-1972) was a Belgian genre, portrait and still life painter, sculptor and printmaker from the Belgian School in Brussels, Belgium. Henri Joseph Thomas was born in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek in June 1878. He studied at the Royal Academy of fine Arts in Brussels from 1895 to 1898 society painter who worked in Belgium. His exhibitions during the Belle Époque include those of the Cercle Artistique et Littéraire de Bruxelles in 1906, 1909 and 1921, and at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1906 and 1910. Thomas was a member of the society Labeur des Beaux-Arts which organized annual exhibitions for its members at the Museum of Modern Arts in Brussels between 1898 and 1907.
