At 19, Louis XIV, who likes to surround himself with talented people, said Mignard in Paris in 1657. He immediately agreed to the court where he will become one of the painters of the king. He received commissions for châteaux like Saint Cloud, Versailles Hotel des Invalides and the Parisian hotels. This important part of its business is gone, and is known only by studies or engravings. Only the order of Anne of Austria for the dome of the Val de Grace in 1663, is still visible with a composition of more than 200 characters. Mignard opposes the authority of the first painter Charles Le Brun. Only after the death of this one in 1690, Mignard get the functions of his rival in 78 years.
