Eduardo Dhelomme (1922-2006) is a Franco-Brazilian painter and sculptor whose works are well known in France. An assertive realist painter, it was not until the end of the 1960s that Eduardo Dhelomme was recognized for his gestural painting. In the tradition of Tobey, Pollock and Mathieu, he expresses at that time and thanks to a strong gesture and sharp colors his non-conformism. Between 1970 and 1975, it reappears with a firmer style. He blossomed. He creates a new, surreal world for himself and gives free rein to his subconscious visions. Clean and cast shadows, unusual, dreamlike objects and all kinds of visual distortions enliven his paintings. He then exhibited in galleries in Rio and his sculptures entered the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rio until 1982. His momentum was stopped by his third marriage, which permanently removed him from the brushes. He is a lyrical abstract painter with a colorful surrealistic style. His later works are quite large as is this canvas.
