Large framed oil on canvas depicting a view of the Church of the Holy Saviour at sunrise, and signed by the artist Paul Soborg The composition of the canvas with this humble woman who seems to pray in the boat in the foreground, who admires the church at sunrise, gives an impression of tranquility and appeasement, and is reminiscent of the works of the symbolist movement of the late 19th century. Modernity (science, industry) is developing rapidly, leaving less room for spirituality The Church of the Holy Saviour or Heilandskirche, is a Lutheran church located in Potsdam, Germany. Its construction began in 1844 in the Italian style, a style appreciated by King Frederick William IV of Prussia. After the reunification of Germany, the church, which was then located in the border area, was restored and then listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Sacrow Castle. Paul Soborg (1852-1937) was a German impressionist/post-impressionist painter who mainly exhibited in Germany from 1894. Good general condition, some chips and old restorations to the frame. Dimensions with frame: 170 x 102 cm. Dimensions without frame: 141 x 74.5 cm.
