Pair of Signed Antique Watercolor Paintings in Hand Carved Gilt Wooden Frames

About the Item

This pair of antique watercolor paintings are done by an unknown artist, likely from France or Italy in circa 1880 in a Renaissance style. The paintings each depict a couple in a ballroom setting dressed in period Renaissance costumes. The paintings are done in muted pastel tones with sepia tone outlines. Both watercolors are framed in very elaborately hand carved softwood frames with a gilt finish. The paintings are both signed, or initialed in the lower right corners, but are completely illegible.
